About us
Our history
Flamingo Surf Club Puglia was born here in Puglia, between the wind and the waves of the Adriatic, driven by the desire to live the sea 365 days a year. We are a group of certified instructors, surfers, and watersport lovers united by a simple belief: the sea changes people, slowly, one wave at a time. Since 2018, we’ve been taking anyone who wants to feel what it means to stand on a board into the water, teaching them to read the wind and respect the land that hosts us.
Our home base is in Trani, in Contrada Boccadoro, one of the wildest stretches of coastline in our province, where since 2020, thanks to the PIN – Pugliesi Innovativi grant, we have launched an environmental redevelopment project, transforming an abandoned area into our current official oceanfront headquarters.
We are not a school like the others: we work in small groups with a personalized approach that puts sport, safety, and respect for nature first. Over the last few years, we have trained and brought together over 300 members from across the region, welcoming more than 200 athletes per season in our surf, skate, and windsurf courses.
In recent years we’ve been actively involved in the local area, organizing in November 2022 the first-ever historic longboard surf competition in Puglia and winning in 2025 the European Erasmus+ Waves of Opportunities grant. Knowing that many of our students have changed the way they spend their free time, in harmony with the sea and the territory, is the energy that drives us to keep going.
Our philosophy
Flamingo Surf Club Puglia is not a pre-packaged place or a simple sports center. It’s a club made of people who decided to take care of a small oasis, born from a real need to live the sea and learn from it. Our headquarters is the result of the hands and ideas of those who live it, a mosaic of authentic stories where everyone brings their own soul, energy, and skills.
Flamingo doesn’t stop in Trani and isn’t limited to the summer months: our activities continue all year round, even in the dead of winter. Whether it’s surf, skate, windsurf, or SUP, we organize trips, in Italy and abroad, always respecting the places and the people who live there. Flamingo Surf Club Puglia has become the go-to spot for anyone with something to share: for those who live out of the region and, when they come home, look for a shared space to finally reconnect with the sea they’ve missed so much; it has become the ideal hideout for anyone who simply wants to unplug from the hectic routine during their lunch break and come to “say hi to the sea” to recharge.
More than a club, Flamingo is an open space for anyone who wants to slow down, breathe in time with the elements, and rediscover the value of simple things. A place where even silence feels good… because the sound of the sea is always there to keep us company.
